Silver Spring, MD-- April 13, 2007-- Henry Batten, executive vice president of Concrete Supply Company, has been elected secretary/treasurer of the Board of Directors of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). Batten was voted to the one-year position at the association's annual convention held last month in La Jolla, CA.

Batten joined Concrete Supply Co. in 1998 and has also been chief financial officer and vice president of finance for the firm. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Alabama. Batten is also a member of the Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association. In addition to serving as secretary treasurer, Batten is chairman of NRMCA's Business Administration Committee and also served as the first chairman of the Association's Legal Activities Committee.

Concrete Supply Co. has provided ready mixed concrete to the greater Charlotte area since 1958, including concrete for most of the city's tallest buildings, major commercial and manufacturing facilities, and upscale residential developments. The company now operates 18 plants that sell concrete in about a 100-mile radius from downtown Charlotte.

NRMCA, founded in 1930 and based in Silver Spring, MD, represents the producers of ready mixed concrete and the companies that provide materials, equipment and support to the industry. It conducts education, training, promotion, research, engineering, safety, environmental, technological, lobbying and regulatory programs. The position of secretary/treasurer is responsible for, among other duties, preparing annual budgets and review of NRMCA's audit report.
