Shortly after attending World of Concrete, many concrete producers and contractors from around the world are heading back to Las Vegas—this time, for the 2008 CONEXPO-CON/AGG international construction exposition. The show will be held March 11–15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

An estimated 125,000 industry professionals will have access to 2000 exhibitors in “product concentration areas,” featuring specific products, and services. The show is expected to attract people from all segments of the construction, aggregates, and concrete industries, including contractors, materials producers, and government and institutional officials.

In addition to learning about the latest products and equipment, attendees can take advantage of a comprehensive education program with sessions focusing on industry issues and trends, management, and applied technology. Educational sessions feature real-world case studies and “how to” applications of tools and tactics to promote efficiency and profitability.

The education program includes more than 120 sessions, grouped into specific tracks, including: Concrete, Aggregates, Environmental/Recycling, Equipment Management, Personal Development, and Safety. Many sessions will offer simultaneous interpretation services for Spanish-, Portuguese-, and Russian-speaking attendees.

As a gathering place for the worldwide construction and construction materials industries, CONEXPO-CON/AGG provides many networking opportunities, including more than 300 industry meetings held in conjunction with the show. Representatives from sponsoring associations will be on hand, including the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

Attendees can also look forward to several new events this year. These include:

  • Mixer Driver World Cup, International competition of concrete ready-mix truck drivers, sponsored by the NRMCA, March 12;
  • IPAF Safety Zone - Click-It! - A fast-paced, live demonstration of body harness safety, March 11–15;
  • Construction Challenge -Final competition featuring students competing in three challenges related to the construction industry, sponsored by AEM, March 11–13;
  • The AEM Construction Challenge - 5K run/walk, March 13;
  • Antique Equipment Display -See equipment from past decades and see how far the industry has come.

The co-located International Exposition for Power Transmission (IFPE) technical conference will offer the latest research for the design engineering community, March 12–14. IFPE's more than 90 educational sessions will focus on power transmission and motion control technologies. Attendees can also benefit from free sessions in the Innovation and Solutions Center, March 11–14.
