Join the Editors for bauma 2007
To make the most of the bauma 2007 trade fair experience in Munich, Germany, the editors of THE CONCRETE PRODUCER, CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, and MASONRY CONSTRUCTION are inviting readers for a special Reader Tour from April 23–29. On Tuesday morning, April 24, readers and editors will meet for breakfast and a behind-the-scenes overview of the show, presented by bauma's organizers. After two days of exploring the largest specialized trade show in the world, our group will enjoy a Bavarian reception on Wednesday evening, April 25.
Next, the Reader Tour will go offsite to see bauma's construction machinery, equipment, and vehicles in action. On Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27, we will visit concrete plants and jobsites in the Munich area. These exclusive trips will provide an opportunity most bauma attendees don't have: a first-hand look at European plant operations and construction sites (along with historic sights along the way).
The tour includes two options. Readers can sign up for the week-long package, including hotel accomodations for six nights, a seven-day bauma entry badge, the breakfast and reception, and two day tours. Those who have already made travel arrangements and registered for the show can also join us for the reader events and day tours. Reservations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Availability is limited for both packages.
bauma 2007 promises to be an impressive display of international construction equipment and machinery. The show's organizers from Messe München International are expecting a record number of visitors in a record amount of space: more than 416,000 people from 171 countries, in a venue larger than 5 million square feet.

Vulcan Management Changes
Vulcan Materials Co., Birmingham, Ala., has announced several executive changes, which were to become effective Feb. 1.
James Smack, senior vice president, Construction Materials Group, has retired. He is succeeded by G.M. (Mac) Badgett III, who will be a senior advisor to all of the Construction Materials divisions. Ronald McAbee, president of the Western Division, was named senior vice president, West. Danny Shepherd was named senior vice president, East. New Terex President
Tom Riordan has joined Terex Corp. as president and chief operating officer, a new position. Riordan most recently was executive vice president and chief operating officer at SPX Corp. More than 100 concrete professionals met for their first American Concrete Institute (ACI) meeting in Algeria in November
It was more than two years ago when Luke Snell, the current director of the Concrete Industry Management program at Arizona State University and ACI member, and Abdeldjelil (D.J.) Belarbi, distinguished professor of civil engineering at the University of Missouri Rolla, traveled to Tlemcen Algeria as presenters at an engineering management conference.
