2005 Results SummaryThe 2005 NRMCA Safety Contest received 1123 individual plant entries. NRMCA estimates there are 6000 to 8000 plants in the United States. The largest category was for plants with fewer than nine trucks, with 543 entries. Those with 10 to 19 trucks had 414 entries, and plants with 20 or more trucks had 166 entries. A total of 832 plants received Excellence in Safety awards. More than 456 million yards of concrete was shipped in the U.S. last year. Plants averaged a record 72,488 yards of ready mixed concrete in 2005.
