When Dick Imper retired from his position as vice president and general manager of the Prestress Group of Morse Bros. Inc., Harrisburg, Ore., he stated to all who would listen that he was looking forward to spending time with his 5 children and 15 grandchildren. Then, too, he planned to pursue his hobby. A licensed pilot, he said that he wanted to spend a lot more time in the air. He also looked forward to polishing his tennis and golf games.
Retiring from a career of more than 40 years, however, has proved to be more difficult than he expected. A pioneer in the precast industry, it seems that he just can’t shake loose from the vocation he loves. Today, while not as visibly active in the industry as he was in his pre-retirement life, he still finds plenty of opportunity to think about the needs of his beloved precast industry and gently remind his fellow travelers in that profession of areas in which they need to concentrate their energies.
