SCC Concrete Formwork Pressure Study

A Progress Report and Task 1 Report for the Self-Consolidating Concrete Formwork Pressure Study are now available. The study, co-funded by the RMC Research & Education Foundation and the American Concrete Institute's Strategic Development Council, is a joint project taking place in cooperation with Sherbrooke University, Purdue University, Northwestern University, and CTLGroup.

Approved in May 2006, the entire study is expected to take about two years to complete.

New Approved ASTM Standards

Several updates of important ASTM standards affecting concrete producers have been approved recently. This list summarizes some committee announcements released in the last few months.

C685/C685M –Standard Specification for Concrete Made by Volumetric Batching and Continuous Mixing has been revised to C685/C685M-07.

C1260 – Standard Test Method for Potential Alkali Reactivity of Aggregates (Mortar-Bar Method) has been revised to C1260-07.

C173/C173M –Standard Test Method for Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Volumetric Method has been revised to C173/C173M-07.
