Ready mix truck drivers' attitudes, relations with customers, and job performances all contribute to the reputations of their companies. Drivers and their trucks serve as advertisements and public relations to the customers, and it is necessary that they create a positive image. The driver has several responsibilities that must be undertaken to insure efficiency: reporting for work at properly scheduled times; proper dress, including any protective gear required; the quick discharge of concrete at the jobsite; and proper handling of delivery tickets. Preventive maintenance is another responsibility of the driver. This includes cleaning the truck, adding fluids and lubricants, and adjusting air pressure. The driver must always deal with customers in a courteous manner, even if disagreements arise. One of the most important responsibilities of the driver is to ensure safety, both behind the wheel of the truck and while loading and discharging concrete from the truck.
