Crest Precast, of Barneveld, Wis., precast its own sign and included its association affiliations to show that it is active in professional groups. The sign went up before construction of the plant started, and is designed to fit in with the area where the plant is being built. Memberships in professional associations are included on the bottom half of the sign. Crest is a member of the National Precast Concrete Association, the Wisconsin On-site Waste Association, and the Wisconsin Precast Association. Company president Steve Mader decided to display this on the sign in front of the new plant, because he believes strongly in belonging to professional organizations. The 8-foot-high sign is 20 feet long with an attached precast base weighing 22,000 pounds. The letters were formed with polystyrene sections that Crest ordered from a sign company. Crest cast the unit face down using an exposed aggregate river rock mix. The concrete was colored with black to tone down the semi-white cement and blend with the river rock.
