Edward Sullivan, Portland Cement Association

The Chicago Federal Reserve has cited Edward Sullivan as the most accurate economic forecaster among 30 top economists. The chief economist for PCA has more than 20 years of experience in industrial economic analysis. His views are widely used in planning, government policy, and the media.





Howard M. Kanare, CTLGroup

Howard Kanare, senior principal scientist for CTL Group, has been involved in more than 200 field and laboratory investigations of floor covering performance issues. He believes the most important mission of the next few decades is to bring design professionals and workers to a high level of knowledge about their materials and methods.





Joseph A. Daczko BASF Construction Chemicals LLC.

Joseph Daczko, BASF product manager, possesses knowledge that encompasses areas in most of the cement and concrete industries. Key projects include dealing with concrete exposed to acidic environments, rheology and workability of fresh concrete, self-consolidating concrete, and rapid developing, high-strength concrete.





Jerry Holland and Wayne Walker, Structural Services Inc.

Jerry Holland, director of engineering services and a fellow of American Concrete Institute (ACI), develops cutting-edge computer programs that help determine applied loads and curling, and other influences on slabs. Wayne Walker, director of design services and chairman of ACI Committee 360, is an expert on slab curling, shrinkage, and shear transfer devices.




Lance Boyer, Trademark Concrete Systems

When the industry needed a certification document for decorative concrete finishers, Lance Boyer answered the call. As the chairman of ACI Committee 601-0D and the owner of Trademark Concrete Systems, a decorative concrete contractor company in Oxnard, Calif., he has led the committee that is in charge of creating a new certification program for decorative concrete finishers.



Linda Figg and W. Denney Pate, Figg Engineering Group

Experts in bridge engineering, Linda Figg and W. Denney Pate have helped to create some of the world's greatest bridges. Figg, president and CEO, recently received the Engineering Achievement Award from her alma mater, Auburn University, for her accomplishments in 2006. As principal bridge engineer, Pate had led the design on a number of bridges around the country.




Bernard Erlin and William Hime, The Erlin Co./Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates

As two of the most renowned petrographic experts in the country, Bernard Erlin and William Hime are authorities on cement and concrete analysis. Erlin, president of The Erlin Co., Latrobe, Pa., has 48 years of experience researching and evaluating concrete performance. Hime, a principal with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, started his career as a chemist for PCA 45 years ago.




Mary K. Hurd, Writer and Engineer

Mary K. Hurd is a rare find-engineer, writer, and leader. Most people have seen her name, M.K. Hurd, on the bible of form-work she wrote in 1963, Formwork for Concrete. It is now in its seventh edition and has sold more than 125,000 copies. Her career included three stints with the American Concrete Institute and as editor of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION.





Robert P. Foley, Con/Steel Tilt-Up Systems

For almost three decades, Robert Foley, president, Con/Steel Tilt-Up Systems, Dayton, Ohio, has been involved with structural design, estimation, and construction of tilt-up buildings for almost three decades. He has helped push tilt-up beyond standard box structures.






Dave Kelly, Meadow Burke

Holding several patents on tilt-up erection, bracing, forming, and structural hardware components, Dave Kelly has been a member of the tilt-up industry for more than 40 years. He has been responsible for setting the design criteria on more than 3.5 million tilt-up panels and has served as the engineer-of-record for more than 200 buildings.
