Mendota Heights, Minn. - Cemstone, an Upper Midwest leader in ready-mixed, engineered, and architectural concrete, as well as aggregates, announced that H. Tom Becken, Cemstone CEO, has received the 2012 William B. Allen Award from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA).

Recipients of NRMCA Business Administration, Operations, Environmental and Safety, Promotion, and Research, Engineering & Standards Committees' annual awards were recognized during the association's 2012 convention in Savannah, Ga.

The William B. Allen Award is given for a lifetime commitment and recognition of outstanding leadership to promote the success of the Ready Mixed Concrete Industry and to improve the financial health, performance, and sustainability of the Industry. The award is named after one of the ready mixed concrete industry's most distinguished and accomplished figures.

Mr. Becken, chief executive officer of Cemstone, joined the family business in 1957. Today, he works alongside his sons Thor and Tim, and brother Steve. Mr. Becken received a lifetime achievement award by the Minnesota Concrete Conference in 1995; the Distinguished Member Award from the Builders Exchange of St. Paul in 2000; and the lifetime achievement award from the Aggregates & Ready Mix Association of Minnesota in 2001.
