Originally from Cleveland, he worked at newspapers in West Virginia, Iowa, and Ohio before turning to trade publishing, and he wrote about the North American steel and metals warehouse industries before joining Hanley Wood. His previous positions ranged from quarry foreman for Material Service Corporation to area manager responsible for four open pit quarries and three dredge sand and gravel operations for Rogers Group, Inc., in Bloomington, Ind.
