With its $4.5 billion price tag, the Hartsfield Development Program will enable Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta to meet the demands of the 121 million passengers expected to fly threw the airport annually by 2015.

Runway 10-28, the airport’s fifth, will be 9000 feet long, with a full-length parallel taxiway and dual north-south taxiways connecting to the existing airfield. The $159.5 million bridge and accompanying taxiway will extend over an existing interstate highway and are part of the expansion.

The project will stand as the perfect showcase of how concrete can be used to solve some very challenging issues. The project offers a number of firsts in concrete construction techniques.
