I recently joined National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) as its Senior Director for Building Innovations. In my new role I will be working with producers and industry allies to identify opportunities to expand our market share nationally with a specific focus on the mid-rise residential and commercial sectors.

Recent market data from FW Dodge indicates the wood industry has doubled its share of the mid-rise construction market in nine years, surpassing concrete’s market share in 2011 and 2013. NRMCA is committed to working with its membership and others in the industry to reverse this trend, and is in the process of formulating a comprehensive strategic plan to accelerate this effort.

The first steps will include direct outreach to developers and design professionals who are beginning work on projects that should be built using concrete. We expect to follow this outreach with a robust and sustained campaign to move the market. Your efforts in working with us to identify likely candidates in your specific market will allow NRMCA to continue to respond to industry needs.

As the health of the building construction market improves, the mid-rise sector is expected to see substantial growth. How can NRMCA best help you expand your piece of the pie?
