Currently, 150 world leaders, business and leading experts, are meeting in Paris for the COP21 conference in an effort to agree on a new ground-breaking international climate agreement. The objective of the conference is to limit global warming below 2 degrees Celsius with an effort to create “resilient, low-carbon societies, and economies.”

LafargeHolcim is a leading provider of building materials, particularly in concrete. LafargeHolcim is an active participant at the COP21 as those in the concrete industry develop new, sustainable solutions for building. During COP21, LafargeHolcim has launched the support of “Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction” as a commitment towards further actions in combating climate change beyond COP21.

We want to set new benchmarks for sustainability, not only for our sector, but for business more widely. To achieve this, our objectives, including those on CO2, must go beyond regular business towards the transformation required for the future low-carbon, sustainable society. This approach has been integral in our work building up to and during COP21, which is fully aligned with the ground-breaking international climate agreement which is sought from the event.
