Charles J. Wieser, age 72, of La Crescent passed away suddenly on Monday May 4, 2015, at Gundersen Medical Center, La Crosse. Charlie was born February 23, 1943, in La Crosse, WI to Aloys and Malinda (Eden) Wieser. He was raised the 5th of 18 children outside of LaCrescent on the family farm. He attended Crucifixion grade school and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic High School in Hokah, MN in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964-70. On October 15, 1966, he married Joanne Frank at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, MN. He began working for his father at Al’s Concrete Products in 1965 and later purchased the business in 1973 and never officially retired, continuing to work with his sons until the time of his death.

Charlie served as the Post Commander of the American Legion Post 595 from 1995-96; Houston County Zoning Board; Camp Winnebago Board of Directors; A.B.L.E. Group Home Board and A.B.L.E. Foundation Board of Directors. He was instrumental in getting the Lancer House built in La Crescent.

He is survived by his wife Joanne: 6 children and 13 grandchildren: Lisa (Terry) Beron and children Paul, Jenna, and Josh of Sparta; Bruce (Julie) Wieser and children Ryan, Brandon, and Erin of La Crescent; Tonia (Matt) Locher and children Matthew and Sophia of Madison, WI; Brent Wieser of La Crescent; Ben (Emily) Wieser and children Carter, Chloe, and Claire of La Crescent; Kim (Matt) Stryker and children Joanna and Preston of Tomah, WI. Brothers and sisters Joe (Mary) Wieser, Rose (Gene) Feuerhelm, Elaine (Jim) Riehle, Leonard Wieser, Richard (Sheila) Wieser, Ruth (Jerry) Berns, Linda Wieser OSF, Al Jr. (Karen) Wieser, Kate (Duane) Undeland, Ed (Ruth) Wieser, Terry (Mary) Wieser, Pat (Warren) Undeland, Betty (Mark) Dokken, Bernie (Mike) McCormick, Steve Wieser, Jeff (Andrea) Wieser, Brian (Kathy) Wieser; mother in law, Florence Frank of La Crescent, and Joanne’s family, Elaine Frank OSF, Bob (Mary Ellen) Frank, Larry Frank, Ken (Jean) Frank, Amy Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Malinda Wieser, and father in-law Jerome Frank.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30am, Friday May 8, 2015, at the Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent. Father Gregory Havel will officiate and burial with military honors by American Legion Post 595 will follow in Crucifixion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at the church with rosary to follow. Visitation will also be from 9:00-10:15am at the church Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Legion Post 595, Crucifixion School, A.B.L.E. Foundation, or Camp Winnebago.
