LaFarge North America announced that its Presque Isle Quarry in Michigan received two awards from the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its environmental and conservation efforts. Presque Isle was awarded a Finalist Distinction from the WHC and National Wild Turkey Federation for the 2015 Upland Management Award. In addition, they received a three year recertification to continue their efforts with WHC’s Wildlife at Work (WaW) and Corporate Lands for Learning (CLL) programs.
LaFarge has worked with the WHC since 2008 to restore and preserve habitats where they operate. In their conservation efforts, Presque Isle created 15 different food plots in various locations at its site.
Plant manager Allan Idalski is proud of the conservation efforts of those at Preque Isle. "These awards demonstrate our continuous efforts in conservation and environmental stewardship, and we look forward to ways we can improve our environment and continue to work with the Wildlife Habitat Council more in the future,” he said.
