During The Concrete Convention and Exposition, the American Concrete Institute held its 2016 Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Bowling Ball Competition. The winners for the competition were recently announced with the first, second, and third place teams receiving $750, $500, and $250 respectively.

For this competition teams had to design/construct a bowling for specified tests and tasks as well as document and present the team's work to an audience of industry professions. The competition demonstrates the effects of fiber reinforcing concrete, gives students experience in forming and fabricating a concrete fiber-reinforced element, and encourages creativity in engineering design and analysis.
