Could precast concrete roads help in the global fight against terror? Indian officials recently finalized a plan to build precast concrete roadways in an effort to combat violent Naxal rebels in the the central state of Chhattisgarh. The Naxal (generally linked with the Communist Party of India) have claimed territory and the new roads will enable faster access to the area for security forces. According to Business Standard:
The biggest hurdle that the agencies had been facing is the terror unleashed by the rebels on the contractors and workers. The Naxalites had been opposing road construction in their stronghold that would facilitate the movement of security forces in the interior areas.
The rebels had been bashing up the construction workers and burning the equipment and vehicles engaged in the project.
