Maintaining forms through thorough cleaning and careful storage adds years of service to the forms and speeds the production process. A producer prolongs the life of a form by preventing rust and dents. The best prevention is care in the handling of the equipment, oiling with protective coatings, careful storage, and cleaning. Some recommendations to prolong form life are: use some sort of oil to coat the form to prevent rust; store forms above ground level and cover them to keep them from getting wet; don't use hammers to remove build up; install lifting eyes to prevent damage during transport; and clean forms regularly to avoid difficulties with build-up.
