I have been asked to try to match the shades of concrete on a patio and pool deck. The patio was poured about a year before the pool deck. What are my best options for accomplishing this?
If the concrete is different, there really isn’t anything that can be done to make the two slabs look alike. For example, when concrete slabs are made with different portland cements, it’s impossible to bring the color together. But if one slab is simply dirtier than the other, pressure washing could solve the problem. The operator should keep the tip a couple of inches away from the concrete surface in order to obtain a high-pressure blast. If there is cement paste “scum” on one of the slabs and that is the reason for a color difference, then an acid wash will provide uniformity.
