Skilled operators of front-end loaders and skid steers performed a variety of maneuvers and showed off their skills in the John Deere Load America competition.

Contestants operated 544K 4WD front-end loaders through the course. Challenges included dropping a basketball into a barrel, maneuvering through a serpentine in forward and reverse and repositioning a barrel using a hook strapped on the bucket. Ninety-eight operators competed. Thomas Jessop of San Angelo, Texas, was the only contestant who notched a perfect score.

Skid steer operators maneuvered a 328D model through tight turns, batted a ball with the bucket into a net, and turned 360 degrees in a small radius. A total of 120 people competed on the new D-series skid steer loader.
