Sidney Freedman, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute
Sidney Freedman has been, and continues to be, our industry's leading influencer in the growth of architectural precast concrete. He continually demonstrates to engineers, architects, and owners that architectural precast is more than an art form. It is a sustainable building material that offers an economical alternative to steel.
Freedman joined PCI in 1973, and he wears many hats at the Chicago-based association. He is the director of three areas: Architectural Systems, Industrial Operations and Safety, and Erection Safety.
In the architectural area, his responsibilities include implementing marketing, technical, and educational programs which respond to the needs and interests of the architectural precast and glass fiber-reinforced concrete producers.
Before joining PCI, Freedman worked for the Portland Cement Association and for five years was manager of its Concrete Technology section. Previous employment stints included the NCMA, Zonolite Company, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Freedman is a prolific author, having written and edited several industry publications in the past 30 yeas. He is the editor of the recently released third edition of the Architectural Precast Concrete Manual, viewed by many as the authoritative text on the state of the art of architectural precast concrete.
He also has developed and implemented workshops and seminars covering production, management, productivity/process improvement and financial activities, as well as programs for designers and users.
Freedman serves as a technical resource for producers and designers, and develops articles and serves as a resource for ASCENT and PCI Journal.Jump to an InfluencerRelated Articles
