With roots in Brazil that date back to 1952, the Dias family founded Central Concrete Supermix 25 years ago with two plants and 22 trucks in Miami. Today, Supermix has 15 locations, 21 batch plants, and more than 150 ready-mix trucks in Southeast Florida. In 2006, operations began at Superblock, a fully automated block factory in Medley, Fla., and in 2012, under the leadership of the current company president, Bernardo Dias, Supermix acquired Continental Florida Materials. The acquisition considerably increased Supermix’s production and service area.
Quality and on-time delivery of products is the producer’s motto. Supermix caters mainly to commercial and residential markets, but also supplies ready-mix concrete to the Florida DOT and for various county jobs. By bringing together outstanding equipment, technology, and innovative techniques in the business, Supermix is able to meet and exceed quality and service expectations of its customers.
The producer cut back on personnel and costs to survive the economic downturn. But as soon the market began to improve, many of those laid off were re-hired. “We believe in giving employees the opportunity to move up within the company ranks to ensure the continuity of having a strong team that we can mentor and train to carry on the Supermix philosophy,” says Dias.
Supermix is an active member in the NRMCA and the Florida Concrete and Products Association, having been awarded numerous honors for service, quality, and responsible environmental practices. “We’re very proud of the environmental excellence awards. All of our plants are compliant with environmental regulations,” says Dias.
While the variety and quality of the products offered is convenient for clients, the key to success for Supermix is the total package—an outstanding product, state-of-the-art equipment, dedicated employees, and the ability to get the customer’s order to a jobsite in a timely, efficient manner.
