Chemical recycling systems conserve water by using chemical stabilizers to reclaim unused concrete. Chemical stabilizers keep the cement from undergoing hydration, which prevents setting. The unused concrete is then combined with the next batch of concrete loaded into the truck and reused. Front discharge mixers, central mix plants, and extremely cold environments can all cause problems when using a chemical recovery system, so be sure to research thoroughly before implementation. Some problems can be addressed with 360o spray systems, which pre-mix water and stabilizer and then spray it into the drum rather than relying on the drum's action for washing.
