Myth breaker: Hotter isn't better. Effective management of heating concrete saves production costs and improves product quality. Profitable and effective cold-weather concrete production requires more than a large-capacity boiler for heating mixing water and injecting steam into aggregate stockpiles. Good management practices are as important as technology in helping operators to deliver concrete at a consistent temperature that is no higher than the application requires.Producers can emphasize heat control three ways:
- Establishing a reasonable as-delivered target temperature
- Determining the mixing temperature required to maintain the delivery temperature
- Minimizing big swings in produced concrete temperature.
