Quinn concrete, of Marshall, Mo., uses an acid etching machine with a high-pressure spray to give architectural concrete products a polished, consistent surfacce. Their method combines a high-pressure hot water spray with hydrochloric acid at about 3000 psi. The company had been using this method for about 5 years, to satisfactory results. Environmental concerns have been addressed, and Quinn has found that the process actually reduces efflorescence.
