When Rotondo Construction saw a need for quickly assembled, cost-effective, and secure prisons in the Northeast, they began a campaign to market precast construction to architects and corrections departments across the nation. Rotondo's sales force created a prototype precast cell that they hauled around the country on a flat-bed trailer in order to market the technique. A major selling point to precast concrete cells is the time saved in construction. Rotondo's average medium/maximum security housing unit project has been ready for occupancy 9 months after contract award.
