In addition to reaching customers, networking, and discovering the latest and greatest innovations, World of Concrete also offers a great chance to support the future of the concrete industry.

The annual Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Auction will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Register to bid by 11 a.m. You also can place bids online using Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers' (booth #N2421) real-time Internet bidding service.

By bidding on valuable construction products and services in this unreserved auction, participants raise money for the CIM National Steering Committee and CIM programs at Middle Tennessee State University, Arizona State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and California State University at Chico.

To accommodate the number of donated items, a silent auction has been added for the first time. Attendees will be able to view and bid on silent auction items in the North Hall lobby, from Tuesday morning through 10 a.m. Thursday. Winning bidders will be announced after the live auction.

This year, organizers are expecting more donations than ever, including a ready-mix truck donated by McNeilus and Inter-national Truck, a laser screed from Somero, a hot water heater from Infern-o-Therm, and 10 truckloads of cement from both Holcim and Cemex. Last year, more than 200 attendees bid on donated items, raising about $500,000.

For more information and for an up-to-date list of donated items, visit the CIM's Web site at www.concretedegree.com.
