Virtually every concrete plant has a few drivers that are known as elite professionals. Many of these drivers have driven 15 to 20 years without an accident. A driver who becomes a professional accomplishes that goal like any other goal--through hard work and skill. There are basically two divisions of drivers--those who never have accidents, and those who have all the accidents. The difference between the two is simple: The drivers who have accidents speed, tailgate and take shortcuts on the road, and on the jobsite. The drivers who do not have accidents drive consistently and safely. The elite drivers have an attitude and an approach to safe driving that keeps them out of accidents.
