The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) National Steering Committee (NSC) is again hosting an unreserved auction on Thursday, Feb. 4. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Concrete industry-related items will be auctioned, with all proceeds benefiting the CIM program. Last year's auction raised $300,000.

Concrete is responsible for bringing the impressive Colorado River Bridge project to life. Learn the history and challenges of the Hoover Dam Bypass from the project's contractor and about the history of the original Hoover Dam project 75 years ago. A tour of the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center and a special below-the-dam tour will be included. Concrete historian Luke Snell will explain how concrete brought the original Hoover Dam project to life in the 1930s. Bus transportation and box lunch provided.

Ready-mix truck drivers will display their driving skills at Mack's skills challenge outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. In this exciting event, drivers navigate through a course of simulated situations they would encounter on the job. Drivers will show their expertise by maneuvering through parallel parking, tight turns, and stopping as close to a line as possible. Winners each day receive great prizes. Watch as pre-certified drivers demonstrate their operating and safety knowledge of front-end loaders. The competition includes a series of activities designed to test contestants' skills, including figure-8 pattern driving, accurate rear-stops, and more. Contestants will be judged on how quickly, safely, and accurately they complete the course. Presented by TCP, the event takes place Tuesday, Feb. 2, through Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Gold Lot in front of the North Hall.Women in Concrete Breakfast & Forum
At the fifth annual Women in Concrete Breakfast & Forum, 8-10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, industry leaders will provide a women's perspective on “Breaking Down Barriers.” Speakers will tell how they became involved in the concrete industry, reveal motivating moments, and discuss how to be a leader in difficult times. Along with this informative content, the gathering provides an opportunity for professionals to network.
Presenters will be Susan Lane, Program Manager of Bridges and Transportation Structures at the Portland Cement Association; Kathy Reissig, Marketing Manager, Stone Construction Equipment, and Erin Williams Christie, Environmental Director, Ready Mix USA.
