Pervious Concrete Live!
The construction industry is increasingly recognizing pervious concrete as a vital building material for sustainable projects. Pervious Concrete Live is the ideal place for producers and contractors alike to learn more about this material and to see it poured and placed. Experts will be present answer all of your questions.
In addition, an Introduction to Pervious Concrete Pavement Construction seminar takes place 1-5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4. A pervious concrete written exam will be given 1-3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5. Finally, Pervious Concrete Field Project for Installer Certification takes place 10:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
Concrete Industry Management Auction
The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Auction is a great place to support the future of the concrete industry while picking up a bargain piece of equipment. The silent auction takes place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the live auction starts at 1 p.m., both on Wednesday, Feb. 6. All funds support the CIM Steering Committee and the CIM programs at Middle Tennessee State University, Arizona State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, California State University (Chico), and Texas State University (San Marcos). Last year's auction raised a record $617,750. This year's premier auction item will again be a ready-mix truck donated by Mack Trucks and McNeilus. Take a short scenic road trip from Las Vegas to one of the world's most iconic examples of concrete construction–Hoover Dam. You will also get a terrific view of the dam from the Michael O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The span, completed in 2010, is the second highest bridge in the U.S. and has the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere.
Attendees will also hear a fascinating presentation by concrete historian Luke Snell, who will talk about the concrete construction aspects of the Hoover Dam. Busses will pick up attendees at Door 9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Dates are: 1-6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, and 1-6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8. Cost is $105, including a box lunch.
Located in the Grand Concourse between the North and Central Halls, the WOC Bookstore provides a chance to shop the nation's largest collection of concrete-related books, media, and training materials. This fully revised 15th edition is a concise, current reference on concrete, that includes the many advances that have occurred since the last edition was published.

The Concrete Producer's Challenges
John Deere Operator Challenge
Get in the driver's seat during this exciting competition! Put your accuracy and speed to the test on a 4WD loader, skid steer, backhoe, or excavator in the John Deer Operator Challenge. For each event, the operator is timed. Participants are penalized for errors and for not accomplishing a task. Score the most points and win a great prize. This event takes place Tuesday through Friday during exhibit hours in the Gold Lot, next to the North Hall.
Western Star Serious Trucks Challenge
Be a star at the Western Star Serious Trucks Challenge! Drivers maneuver ready-mix trucks in confined spaces, simulate concrete pours, and more. Challenges include parallel parking, S curves, driver-side parking, blind side parking, and stopping on a steeply graded ramp. Contestants with the highest scores will receive some great prizes. The challenge takes place in Silver Lot 4, next to the South Hall.
