Don't Bypass the Bypass Tour

Join the editors of THE CONCRETE PRODUCER for the Hoover Dam Bypass Tour to get a once-in-a-lifetime look at the Colorado River Bridge. The 2000-foot-long span is being build just downstream from the one of the concrete industry's marvels—Hoover Dam.

Enjoy a scenic bus ride from the Las Vegas Convention Center to the bridge area. Here, you will have an opportunity to ask project managers questions about the bridge's construction. Then, it's on to the Hoover Dam, where you can listen to a lecture about the concrete-related aspects of its construction 75 years ago, and then tour the dam and underground power station. Sika Corp. is the tour's exclusive sponsor.

There will be two tours: 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1; and 1–6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6. Buses depart from and return to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Cost is $85 by Dec. 20; $105 after Dec. 20. Cost includes a box lunch.

Mack Trucks' Challenge

Ready-mix truck drivers will have an opportunity again to display their driving skills at the Mack Trucks' Driving Skills Challenge outside the Las Vegas Convention Center.

This exciting Producer's Challenge event invites drivers to navigate through a course of simulated situations they would encounter on the job. Drivers can show their expertise by maneuvering through parallel parking, tight turns, and stopping as close to a line as possible.

The event takes place all day, Tuesday, Feb. 3, through Thursday, Feb. 5. Winners each day will receive some great prizes from Mack Trucks.

For more details at the show, visit Mack Trucks' booth at C6669.

GREENSITE Luncheon & Forum

The editors of THE CONCRETE PRODUCER, CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, and MASONARY CONSTRUCTION magazines will host the GREENSITE Forum noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, in Room S222.

The event, sponsored by Holcim, will provide a forum in which contractors, producers, and architects can share ideas on how to participate in the economy's fastest growing construction segment–green building. Participants will learn from industry professionals who have completed projects on which their innovative approach to concrete construction techniques, material design, and/or design elements enabled the structure's owners to earn a green building rating.

The forum will also feature a brief review of the 2008 GREENSITE award winning projects. The forum will be held in conjunction with GREENSITE, an area located on the show floor at WOC. Cost is $60 for advanced registration; $85 after Dec. 30.
