The National Concrete Masonry Association recently published its Segmental Retaining Walls Best Practices Guide for the Specification, Design, Construction, and Inspection of SRW Systems. The guide will aid owners, designers, site civil engineers, geotechnical engineers and installers of SRWs.
This guide's information is intended to enhance information contained within their Design Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls, but can be applied to other design methodology.
NCMA President Robert Thomas felt that now was the time to document the best practices that were being used to improve design and installation. “In the 30 years since the segmental retaining wall industry started production, the manufacturers, installers and researchers have learned what works and what doesn’t when installing walls,” he said.
