I sent my first text message to my daughter a few weeks ago. She actually stopped whatever she was doing and phoned me back. "Dad, it's so cool that you know how to text," she said. "Now we can talk," she added, and then abruptly hung up.
A push of the button has brought me closer to an important person in my life. I have to give credit to the young dude at the phone center store. But don't text my daughter this.
My kids aren't the only folks benefiting from my new-found technological gains.
With the start of the new year, we've resolved to meet the challenge of keeping in contact with you and your employees. I hope you'll find our new connection sources innovative, refreshing, and rewarding.
We start with two new projects this week. First, you'll notice we have provided our first e-magazine: The Producer's Guide to the World of Concrete. You can either read this pdf on-line, or download and print it.
It's a great tool to help those of you who plan to attend World of Concrete. For those who are not attending, it summarizes the events that you missed.
Our second web effort is to try to ensure that we stay connected with all of you. Our reader research tells us that a growing number of our readers welcome our industry-focused newsletters. We are planning more of these focused bits of information in the next few months.
To be sure we reach all of our industry, we have created an easy way for your employees to sign up for our newsletter. We have prepared a sign-up form that can be posted on your bulletin board or passed around at safety meetings. Simply fax the form back to us, and we will do the rest.
I can't wait to tell my daughter about these Web initiatives. I want to be the coolest dad and your trusted source for important and timely information.
